My soul on TDK90
But a few weeks ago I pulled the tape off and found lyrics and melodies that are tied to my life and its history. I didn't realise I'd missed them. Doing the dishes becomes a sublime experience with Leonard or Lyle beside me.

Leonard as in Cohen? Saw him on TV a while back and he looks every bit aas good as he sounds.
I'm 95% sure Sharon posted this; I was positive until I read the word "sublime". I've never heard Sharon use that word, whereas I've frequently heard John use it.
I threw out most of my tapes; it was too hard to pick which ones I wanted, and we have such limited space (you wouldn't know anything about that, oh ye of vast abodes).
Don't you just love the soundtrack of your life?! There are too many tapes I've lost in all my moves, and it makes me sad... I'm happy you still have yours, John. John? Is that you? I had the opposite reaction to Patrick's... 95% sure it was you until the last sentence which sounded more Sharon-y.
It's Sharon. The giveaway should have been listening to Leonard Cohen. John would never intentionally. He'd pick an obscure British band like the Blue Nile. Sorry, I'll sign them in future.
Doing the dishes with Leonard? Make sure there are no sharp knives!
To geek it up you can have your cassettes play (and record) on your computer. Heh.
there's a really interesting wikipedia article about the mixtape, which now makes me feel better about the thousands of hours i spent in high school making tapes, knowing that i was participating in a whole cultural movement thing of sorts. there should be a space somewhere for people to mourn the loss of their mixtapes. it'll become retro-cool someday soon, so hang on to them sharon!
Just for the record - this is the first time I've ever used the word sublime.
John
