Call the Ferryman

This is us on Easdale Island, which is 2+2km from Atlantic Bridge, as Dad noticed! I'm guessing it's 2 to the ferry and 2 to the island. The island is a big chunk of slate and a century ago was very busy with slate quarrying. Now you can see huge empty quarries filled with water ( a bit scary to walk around with 2 energetic girls). All the rock walls, houses and roofing tiles are made of slate. And there are no cars on the island. In the distance you can see the village of Ellenabeich, where you catch the ferry (small motor boat). When you get off the ferry with your 20 bags of groceries, you just load up a few of these wheelbarrows which are helpfully waiting for you.

What are those tire tracks then Sharon, if you claim there are no cars? A JCB. How they got that across in the motor boat, I don't know. And here are Ailsa and Heather building a wee cairn.

I can't help but notice that John and Claire look like they are teaming up steal someone's diamond stash while on the island. Heh.

Note: I was just "caught" commenting on your blog at work which resulted in showing pictures I was viewing. This was followed by a flood of people in my cubicle looking at the photos. Everyone dreaming of living on the island, grocery wheelbarrows included.

No cars? Bliss. If they got rid of hair straighteners I would move there......

Dan: how can you be sure that IS Claire in the Babybjorn carrier? Come to think of it, he did disappear off for a solitary walk...you can hide a lot in a disused quarry....what are the wheelbarrows for really?
