Yes, I suppose, if I think about it, the concept of melting IS difficult to grasp if you are two years old. It would be difficult, I am sure, not to think that the butter completely disappeared, or that your mother completely ignored your request. Which would warrant you making your previously expressed wishes very clearly, very loudly, with some hand and body gestures as communication aids.
