Some Room

When you've got these curtains and this painted woodwork,

and this carpet...

You just have to work with them in the decorating scheme. No amount of pink or flowers is going to detract. So we went regal. OTT regal.

Thanks to Mom and Dad for helping with the painting and canopies. What's great about this room is that it is the opposite of Dolly's great quote that, "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap". Lots of cheap and cheerful touches, painting second hand furniture, bedding on sale but even then bought with some vouchers, cushions made with scraps, but cheapest of all was Oma's find of fancy upholstery tassles on sale for one penny each. She bought six. Six pence. When the sales assistant asked her if she wanted a bag she said, "Do I have to pay for it?". Cheapest customer ever.
