Heather has promised to do a good turn every day, now that she is in the Gnome six in the Brownies. And, the other exciting thing that happened to her recently was a class trip to the Maritime Museum, as they had been learning about pirates and seafaring. "Mum, I got to hold a real pistol and a real sword and a real pegleg!!!!"
I'm trying to imagine the circumstances that lead to someone saving that pegleg... was it a family heirloom for a while, do you think until it ended up in the museum? Was it dug up with a pirate's body? Fascinating stuff... next time I'm in Aberdeen, I want to go hold it too!

Gnome six, congratulations Heather. Is that a ceremonial sweatshirt?
Wow. School trips were never that good in my day. I never got to hold a real pegleg.

Congratulations Heather. I was a Kelpie!
Nice work, Gnome Six. A well-deserved title, and an ultra-cool field trip!
