Gone down into a black hole

This is where all the space fun is going. I was talking to Ailsa yesterday about planning her 5th birthday party and I said, "Would you like a cake like the moon, or planets"? (this is the intro to my fantastic Girls-in-Space themed party). To this my space loving, astronaut ambitious daughter replied, "You know, I'm not so into space anymore. Maybe you could make a cake like a princess, or a ballerina, or a fairy, or a mermaid". And she smiled and did a twirl. That twirl seemed to me the sucking into a black hole of all the stardust and astronomical fun I've had this last year with her. sigh.

Well it all started with this great song by snow patrol 'I am an astronaut' - go to this website and forward to the fourth track.

not so into space anymore? uh-oh. did you show her that cool picture? where'd you find it? one of the coolest things i've seen was a video of stars orbiting the black hole at the centre of the milky way.

Okay, i may be biaised here, but am loving that Ailsa is maturing into fairies and ballerinas...much more my sphere of influence!

There is a great way to make ballet shoe cakes using swiss rolls.... i can get my Mum to fill you in.

See you all very soon.
