Ailsa turns five shindig
Ailsa had her B-day party today, even though tomorrow on her birthday. She was only allowed to invite 5 kids, and so invited her table from school - some extras turned up. Sharon as always was the Uber-artistic parent. Ailsa wanted to go with the astronaut theme - so Sharon made this artful constellation of cakes n cookies- Crafty spaceship workshop got under way....
I pretended I knew something about 5 year olds birthday games - musical planets-aka musical chairs, musical astronauts aka musical statues to the tune of walking on the moon by the Police...some game with straws and polo mints that the kids seemed to get in to - those five year olds just roll with suggestions! Then to burn off some of those cake carbs we did some retro 70s disco dancing The bad side...after a gallant display Scotland were beat by Italy 2-1 in Glasgow tonight - despite the weather being in Scotland's favour...and now you think why did we bother beating France twice when we're out of the European championship? It's always good to be philosophical when things don't go how you were expecting...... (Is that something like philosophy is the opium of the masses?) anyway Aubrey, my father-in-law, reminded me of this great site that goes into the whole philosophy of football (Soccer to the minority who live in N. America) or is it the football of philosophy? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrShK-NVMIU). Ailsa and Heather seemed to have had a good time today, but I'm not sure we can keep this up 3 times a year for the next ?12 years/

Wow! Looks like a great birthday! You can do loads more, John, I have faith in you (and Sharon)
Here are a few ideas for the next few years:

Shut up Jen!!
Am I a bad person and terrible teacher because I was really happy to see that no one had blond hair at your party? And besides your fairy princess ballerina 3 year old, only 1 kid had on a single pink shirt!! I'm sick of my barbie school.
Happy Birthday Ailsa!!

Yes you are a bad person and potentially terrible teacher for being biased about hair colour. There is nothing inherently wrong with blond hair. Mae, for example, is a very funky blonde. I'd like an independent audit of the marks you give out to the blondes and non-blondes in your class.
from, a woman who was blond as a child.

Wasn't that a party! And the cake looks like a page out of the encyclopedia, wonderful! Looks like the kids had great time. And parents too. Was Claire not invited? You'd think that Heather would have worn something other than her everyday dress! And that girl in the black outfit - can't you see her in ten or 15 years time!! Happy Birthday party girl Ailsa.

!!! JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE AILSA !!!

Shut up ...

Ailsa, We think a lot about you this week end ... I see everything was great for your birthay (your mom'cake and your father'dance )
I m shure that all birthdays for the next years will be exceptionnal because each kid is unique and there ars 12 months between each birthday to find new ideas ! ... what they like is to invite friends at home ... And you know that at a certain age ... they will organize by thereselves and parents will be birthday prohibited !
Heather is a princess ... so she's dressed as a princess ... except to go to shool where she wear her pyjama ! Everything is normal !

And Bethanne ... shut up ...what's your problem with blond hair ?!!! Hair colour racist !??? Sorry for you if you are in a barbie school and you are not a barbie teacher ...

Have a good week every body !

Et ta raison... there are 12 months between one kid's birthday... Sharon and John will have 9 months to think up three birthday themes, and three months to cram them all in! Good luck!!

... to cram them all in ???
