CHOP chop chop chop chop

Can you see the man up in the tree? A few weeks ago they came and pollarded every single elm tree on our street because they were too tall. This one is right outside the girls' window. It was very entertaining watching them climb the trees, pulley up the chain saw, lop off branches and drop them down to the team below who fed them into a huge chipper. I went out and politely asked for some to be saved from the chipper and left for our fireplace and they kindly obliged, even cutting them into small logs, just the right size!
The tree on the left is across the road and shows how naked and sad they look.
Actually it all reminds me of that harsh haircut I had.
But, new branches will grow back, I promise.

pollarding (or is it coppicing) is horrible, but I think once it's started you have to do it until the end of time. They should decorate the tree until the branches grow back!

This practice has bothered me since the day I first saw a newly pollarded tree. I feel so bad for the trees. They'll have their revenge on us someday, I bet. But how great of the men to cut up some wood and give it to you!! I'm sure it was your charm.
