Cumbrae

We decided to have a day out today despite the forecast of all day rain. It involved driving to Largs, mising a turn off and driving down a mysterious narrow single track farm road for awhile, getting the ferry from Largs to the isle of Cumbrae, stopping at the beach for wave jumping, shell hunting, sand playing, tuna sandwiches, and scootering. Then we wandered into the town of Millport, lured by the sounds of a pipe band, ate ice creams and rented bicycles (the island is swarming with bicycle renters...maybe more on that to come). We cycled almost halfway round the island but Claire was getting very grumpy getting squashed in the trailer by a big sleeping lump of a Heather. So we stopped at a tearoom for some windy coffees and headed back. We got the ferry back, stopped at the playground for a quick spin and climb before ending the day with dinner at La Tasca, thanks to our Tesco vouchers. And the sun shone all day!

Holy moly! It rained everywhere else in Scotland yesterday, so you got REAL lucky! Tell us more about the bikes, then....I'm curious!
What great photos! I cant decide ..is it warm or cold and windy??
That was about midday and it was a bit of both, later on it got a lot hotter - maybe it was just the energetic cycling!
