Lovely Edinburgh

Hello faithful readers of our infrequent postings. The running is carrying on. Walk three minutes, run two. ooh tough. You know how two children is more than twice the work of one? Same with running. The answer lies in a small, keen personal trainer. Last night Heather came out with me on her bike and after a 2 minute run while she bombs along on her wheels she shouts, "Woo! That was fun! Wasn't that fun?"

The girls have had 3 days off school and John has the week off, so we've been ice skating with friends, out for fish and chips because Claire won 2 free dinners there in a colouring competition, through the car wash, to a playbarn, covering balloons in papier mache. Also, Laura's playgroup was still on so John went along to play raucous guitar songs for them and the 4 girls put on a little show of The Gruffalo for all Laura's friends. Ailsa narrates, Heather's the Gruffalo, Claire is on props, managing the fox, owl and snake and Laura is the mouse. She is very good at walking through the deep walk woods.

I, however, missed most of that, although I did join the ice skating. I was off on one of my conferences. Harrassed Mums Network. I got the train to Edinburgh and met Jen for the day Monday. We had a great coffee with cake and scones, visited the National Gallery, then browsed all the best charity shops in Scotland, stopped for a delicious long lunch and did some more meandering/window shopping. I talked her ear off. Thank you Jen. I stayed on for the eve with niece Fiona and sister-in-law Bethanie. We went out for pizza, more talking ears off and the Life of Pi in 3D. Awesome.

Wow, nice. Those all sound like great activities. And I love that Claire won two free dinners in a coloring contest! Now I'll be on high alert for food-prize contests.

All so exciting! Sounds like the perfect day you had in Edinburgh, and well-deserved. Good on Claire, for providing for the family through her artwork.
