It's Never to Early to Read Dickens

Well, maybe 5am is a bit too early.

We are missing the busy bustle of the last few weeks, with the house full of family. As John said, "After having your family stay, it feels more like this is our house, not just someone's house that we moved into".

But tonight is New Year's Eve and there is a bustle of Reids/Donnellys/Archers coming over for some food and competitive board gaming. I know I cannot compete in the trivia stakes when I'm up against people with long memories and 70 years of fact collecting. Here's hoping there's a category called "Gaetz Brook, 1983-86"

Countertop Goofing Around

Thirty seconds later and two swift shoves, Claire had the whole space to herself to stretch out.
Other recent countertop activity in this household includes baking molasses cookies, spreading out electrical and lighting components to fix various dodgy lights, lots and lots of dishwashing, soup making, wreath making, and copious amounts of kettle boiling. None of this has been done by me. Opa and Oma can take all the credit.

Wriggily Nativity

As Alex Ferguson would say 'I was pwoud, vewy pwoud'. Ailsa and Heather played their part in the Nativity show. Ailsa is on the far right and Heather is centre stage with a big golden star round her neck.....takes me back to my primary days. Excuse the parental indulgence.

St Nicholas' Stash

Here's a dimly lit picture of the treasures St Nicholas left in our shoes, as we discovered in the dark early morning. Lots of fun and lots of yum.
