Halfway through Summer

And it has been busy and lots of fun. For the first week, the big girls had swimming lessons every mornning, and then we would go to the park or have a friend over to play.
The second week was sports camp.
The third week john had off, so lots of little fun things with Dad.
We have been camping, swimming, having tea parties in the garden, had two sleepovers at Grandma and Granda's, been to the Taylors' to play, had the Taylors over, been to two birthday parties, the circus, to our favourite place for a Saturday lunch, been to John's work's family barbecue, Duthie park with the Andersons, Westburn park, on our bikes, helping Dad with DIY jobs, been to Hazlehead park, been to a Gruffalo party at Cromwell park, to Doonies farm to feed the horses, baked cookies, had Laura's birthday, cousin Fiona came, played at Tina's house, went ice skating, walked along the river Don, and more.

But this is the only picture I have.

Ailsas and Heathers

Since naming our girls, I haven't met a lot of children named Ailsa or Heather. But last week, they were in swimming lessons, and, overhearing me nag them to hurry up and get changed, another mum said, "Do you have and Ailsa and a Heather?" She had a 3 and 1 year old with those names! Wierd.
But then, this week, they are in sports camp. Claire and I were watching them, while waiting to pick them up. Overhearing Claire chattering away, another mum, not last week's mum, said, "Do you have and Ailsa and a Heather?" Hers were 10 and 11!! It has got to be a popular combination for parents all over the country who wanted Scottish names. Who knew?

These were the musings of my Ailsa and Heather from the back of the car yesterday:
Ailsa: I think when I grow up I'd like to be a teacher, but if not a teacher, then I'd like to work in an office, like a secretary because I really like organising things."
Heather: "I want to be like Maria. She has a lot of fun".
Me: "She's a nurse"
Heather: "Oh, is she?"

I think it's so sweet how Ailsa was focusing on the job, but Heather on the life.

Weddings and Anniversaries

On Saturday the girls and I went to the wedding of Heather's rainbow group leader, Claire. It was a very nice ceremony, and all her Rainbow girls were invited. They wore their red outfits and formed an honour guard for the bride and groom as they walked out. Isn't that sweet? Sadly, I don't have a picture of that as we were still sitting in our seats.

Saturday was also our 17th wedding anniversary. John was working all weekend, but did manage to rustle up a delicious celebratory breakfast before going in to the hospital. He mentioned to one of his patients that it was his anniversary. She glanced at the dozen red roses on her bedside table and said, "Would you like to take one of my roses for your wife?"
