Long Time No Laundry Blog

While putting out the sheets this morning, a bright sunny and slightly windy day, I was reminded of my friend Lisa. She lives at the top of a big hill and can feel the benefit of...very strong breezes. I have heard her measure the strength of the wind by the number of clothespins it takes to hold the dish towels on the line. "Oh, it's a 7 peg day!"

A Morning Visitor

We had a friend drop by for the morning and even though we drank 2 cups of coffee and chatted non stop, I still managed to put the laundry in and completely tidy the girls bedroom! How? Because little Miss Claire hijacked him, so he had to play with the littlest pets and look at the book and play dominoes and eat wooden cakes and do the magnet puzzles, while I chitchatted and tidied up around them. Plus he did the breakfast dishes. What an efficient morning; I should have someone to come and visit every day.

Overheard

Standing in the school playground today I heard this boy ( a generally happy and friendly boy) from Ailsa's Primary 3 class say to a little boy, "No, you won't be glad. Well...you'll be glad in Primary 1, but once you get to Primary 2, all the gladness disappears".

Ha! He probably has a long list of all the things he could be doing all day if he didn't have to go to school.

Peter Pan

Peter Pan has become the number one story in our house after the girls received a fabulous set of puppets from some fabulous gift givers we happen to know. There is a rota for who gets to sleep with the Wendy puppet and I've already had to stitch Tinkerbell's wand back on to her hand because she was sprinkling too much pixie dust. And Laura crawls around with Captain Hook's little fabric sword between her teeth.

An interesting coincidence: When I went on to Google to find an image, the google header was a Peter Pan pic, to commemorate JM Barrie's 150th birthday!

Meltdown

Yes, I suppose, if I think about it, the concept of melting IS difficult to grasp if you are two years old. It would be difficult, I am sure, not to think that the butter completely disappeared, or that your mother completely ignored your request. Which would warrant you making your previously expressed wishes very clearly, very loudly, with some hand and body gestures as communication aids. It's not healthy to keep your emotions in, we are told. Yes.

Election Day

Should I vote for Nick Clegg simply because he looks and speaks like Colin Firth? And can I be the only person who has noticed this?

Busy in the Kitchen

Making pizzas.
Jen C: I'm fast running out of photos from your visit 6 weeks ago!
Jen B: The thought of flinging a frisbee full of snails into my neighbours yards is hilariously tempting!!
