My soul on TDK90

In July 2005 I put all our cassettes in a box and taped it closed tight. It lived in storage for a long time and then moved to our new house but stayed as a locked up box while we played cds on the computer.
But a few weeks ago I pulled the tape off and found lyrics and melodies that are tied to my life and its history. I didn't realise I'd missed them. Doing the dishes becomes a sublime experience with Leonard or Lyle beside me.

What's in the cupboard under the stairs?

Everything was too quiet, except for a faint pop-pop-pop. A light was peeking out from the cupboard under the stairs, and this is what I found when I opened the door.

A WHOLE LOTTA HEATHER

Boy who invented those do it yourself trampolines they are impossible to put together. But once it was up Heather did some mean head-banging. She will definately be an AC-DC groupie in about 7 years time

Blossoms

These are our beautiful blossoms on the pear tree in the back yard. We have spent the weekend at home, now that Heather has got the chicken pox. But we did a lot of weeding and tidying up. The roofers have left the skip (dumpster) in the driveway until Monday so we got to throw all sorts of wierd shed/garage items in it.
Also, our 90 year old neighbours came over this afternoon for apple pie and a cup of tea. They are full of stories of building your own camper van, walking through the mountain valleys with a bicycle on your shoulder, annual trips to Lourdes, and local subsidence. Apparently, 100 years ago, our street was a coal mine. The houses across the road nearly sunk underground last year! For my Dad: Boy, that would be the pits.

Relaxing in Aberdeen

We were in Aberdeen for three days this week staying with John's parents, enjoying the sun trap garden, the warm beach and good food. One of the top relaxing activities in the household, as you can see Sally and her brother Harry doing, is Sudoku. And what are John and his dad doing out inthe garden?

More Sudoku. Note how it has been photocopied and enlarged so everyone has identical copies from the day's paper. This is serious sudoku.

Walk across the rooftops
After arriving in Glasgow and reconciling to the rain we discovered water getting into the Loft - finally we've got a new roof and Glasgow's had sunshine for 2 weeks.
So let it rain - I was thinking of posting a link to the Blue Niles songs A Walk across the rooftops and Tinseltown in the rain and came across this version of Here comes the rain again by Annie lennox and the singer of the Blue Nile - enjoy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnnqY5CA4HQ&feature=RecentlyWatched&page=1&t=t&f=b)

Passing the Pascal Time

Hunting for treats before breakfast.
Visitng a farm museum, looking for new lambs.
Making Easter bonnets.

After that it was just acting like whizz-bang wacky children until bedtime. Thank God John finished work early today after a long day at the hospital yesterday. Hope you all had a happy Easter, even if it came with a foot of snow.

Peaceful, blissful days

A sunny, breezy picnic on a wee hill at the foot of the Crookston Castle ruins, just us three, the sunshine and the view. This was after a morning spent eating my cereal on the back steps in the sunshine while Ailsa and Heather took turns fishing. This involves the fishergirl getting in a cardboard box and dropping bits of ricecake for the fishgirl to eat off the ground and then get caught on a string and hauled into the cardboard boat. The game was long enough for me to finish my cereal, make a coffee and steal 2 chocolate chip cookies. "What are you having Mum?" "Oh, just a ricecake".
Then an afternoon of window cleaning and making Easter baskets from Krispies boxes. A quiet evening smoothed by the Cowboy Junkies.

cluck cluck cluck

Ailsa has the chicken pox. Heather is safe; she had the vaccine in Canada last year but little Ailsa is doing a good job as a brave polka-dot warrior. She's on a 2 week break from nursery, and we're staying home in quarantine instead of visiting friends or going to lots of child-friendly places. But we're enjoying the warm sunshine, maybe we'll go outside right now with a coffee and some freshly made warm chocolate chip cookies, mmm.

We surrender!

To the sun and the wind. A clothesline and a sunny day equals a happy daughter of Rita.

I'm all fancied up!

says Ailsa.
