Blog By Ailsa
Ailsa took all these pictures today and chose these for the blog. Here's what she has to say:
This is the first time Claire is drinking from a bottle. This is pear baby juice.
Today we bought the baby food. It's the first time she's eaten baby rice. She didn't really like it. But she did eat it.

The Machines
Made from Easter egg boxes and bits of coloured foil and lots of tape. But what do they do?It turns out that when you press the pink buttons, small people will take a bite of their supper. Winding the crank makes them chew and the red button means swallow. They light up when supper is finished.

A Chocolate Egg and a Bunny
Thanks to the professional face painters at Pollok House where we went for a treasure hunt to find chicks and letters of the alphabet in the rooms. Find all the letters, unscramble them to make a word, bring your answer to Mrs Cottontail and she will read you a story and give you a box of Easter goodies to take home. Then you can run around the 2 foot-high hedge maze while your parents pretend to be the ghosts from pacman. Next you can sit on a bench in the sunshine looking out over fields and daffodils and mushroom stools which you sit on, pretending to be a fairy. Perfect Easter Eggstravaganza.23 March 2008
Jump AROUND
Claire is now 5 months - learning to bounce around. I wanted to tag the song jump around to this clip - but as yet I don't have the techno know-how
Happy Easter one and all.

Get lost with your employed self.

OK, a few times, while socialising with single friends, we have been referred to as "smug marrieds", especially if discussing the single friends' romance, or lack of. Well, I've decided that a whole lot of you people out there are the "smug employed", and even the "smug published". You can take your work stories and work friends and salary, and ability to google yourselves and your research publications, achievements, etc and get lost.
Gotta go. I've got a breakfast meeting. With some fairies.

The Last Night
Here we are on our last night with Maria, Charlotte and Duncan, filling ourselves with tapas and red wine. We spent Thursday at the Glasgow Science Centre, playing with every single exhibit and watching Deep Sea Underworld with 3-D glasses!! It was lots of fun...but now they're gone. boo hoo.12 March 2008
Happy Bappy
Not just a description of a contented member of the baptist church...Claire's Baptism was great today.
The mass was supported by 3 classes from Ailsa's school - 2 of whom were learning about baptism. They sang some cute songs - 'hush little baby, fear no harm, shawl of white to keep you warm....soothing oil on your head...the light of Christ is drawing near etc etc', 'Claire you are baptized in Christ'. It made the ceremony more sacred.
Claire was content throughout.
We had some neighbours, friends, plus my folks and the 2 G-parents Leo
and Maria there.
The baptismal gown was the same fabric as Sharon's wedding dress and had been worn twice before. Maria has proven her ample talent in soothing a crying baby. We had the joy of my cousin Andrew from Australia being there (first left below)
Then we had a shindig at the house with Fritata.

Duncan got good at carrying Claire around
Charlotte took heaps (111 exactly) of photos - so this is just a snippet of her great talent.

2 days time
Today is the arrival of Maria, Charlotte and Duncan, assuming the storms don't affect the flight from Brussels. 2 days to go till the big day. Here is Ailsa doing a preparation dance for the big event.

Chillin and Illin in Aberdeen

We're up north for the weekend and the girls have been.........well, let's just say Ailsa renamed Saturday "Cryday". But Heather is now having her second nap of the day and it's not even 2pm, so I think they're a bit under the weather.
But we've had fun meeting Andrew the never-before-seen Australian cousin, playing school and dollshouses and waving to ships sailing out of the harbour.

Breaking with popular opinion
OK, usually if Bethanne and Jennifer C and then also Tracey like something, I like it too. So I hesitate to disagree, but Bent Objects (I'm not clever enough to link it) is not as funny as it thinks it is. A few of the images are amusing, but a lot are just dumb. What really bugs me is that the images are photoshopped or digitally enhanced. The creatures can't really balance on those thin legs, and the shadows are just added in to look real. Maybe if he turned them into animation films, I might find them more charming.
I'd rather watch Pingu (again, not clever enough to link it).

Thank God for mums
We've been taking it easy on mother's day. Claire's personal gift to Sharon was to sleep through the night till 6.30. I tried to make bran muffins but used the wrong molasses (which just shows why we all need mums). We had some cake and sparklers and sang 'happy mother's day to you'. Where would we be without the moms? Here are photos of us vegging watching creature comforts and a pink mother's day tribute from the lovely girls she produced.
