CHOP chop chop chop chop

Can you see the man up in the tree? A few weeks ago they came and pollarded every single elm tree on our street because they were too tall. This one is right outside the girls' window. It was very entertaining watching them climb the trees, pulley up the chain saw, lop off branches and drop them down to the team below who fed them into a huge chipper. I went out and politely asked for some to be saved from the chipper and left for our fireplace and they kindly obliged, even cutting them into small logs, just the right size!
The tree on the left is across the road and shows how naked and sad they look.
Actually it all reminds me of that harsh haircut I had.
But, new branches will grow back, I promise.

Sorry, that other post should have been titled "Dirt"

Now these are seedlings. Look at these babies! Looks nothing like a cockpit now, eh?
Will keep you posted on the progress of the peas, yellow beans, carrots, corn, courgettes, pumpkin, onions, lettuce and sweet peas.

Easter in Eire

The highlights included sailing past Ailsa Craig island,
an Easter Egg hunt with cousin Mahalia (the Irish Easter Bunny brings Belgian chocolate!)

Climbing hills in the wind/sun/rain,

visiting shrines with godmother Deirdre, (sorry that this is a photo of the shop and not the shrine)

and general tomfoolery with all six girls.

There are no photos of the caves, the pub, Galway city, cycling around the beautiful peninsula, the dramatic cliffs of Moher, the sweetest farmer's market in the world, or the Tim Horton's outlet we discovered in the local gas station!

Bethanne took a lot more pictures, so check her blog in a couple of days' time.

Seedlings

All lined up on the windowsill, waiting for the sun to shine on them. They were not hoping for the snow, which fell on all the tulips and daffodils.

Ailsa

On Saturday I did my highland exam but we haven't been told if we have passed or failed yet. It
was my bronze exam because last year I did my pre bronze exam. On Wednesday me, Claire and Heather are going to Grandma and Granda's house for a sleepover. On Thursday I am going to my friend Gabrielle's house for a birthday party. This week every day I am doing swimming lessons.
