Any Questions?

Over breakfast the other morning I was blaming the tv schedules for my poor grasp of current affairs. "Like Question Time, why can't they put Question Time on at 9pm, then I could watch it". Helpful and keen Ailsa jumps in with an enthusiastic, "Ooh! Ask me questions!"

Wahey me hearties

This is what Claire has been saying this week. And singing, "what can we do with a drunken pirate?". She has filled her pillowcase with plastic necklaces and hidden it under her bed. Apparently it is Pirate Week at nursery and she is loving it. They had to dress up today. Why are pirates an appropriate theme for children? I wanted to send her in with a toy machine gun and a map of the Somali coastline. Is next week pimp week? Breaking and entering week?

Still, she was cute.

Sorry about giving you crooked necks.

The Seductress and the Finding Stick

This was announced as the name of the show that Ailsa, Heather and a friend were putting on for both sets of parents. I was shrinking in my seat as they announced it. How do they know the word, "seductress"? Well, in Act one the princess says, "Help, help, my dress is stuck up there! Who can help me reach it?" Oh. The stuck dress. I sat up tall in my seat.

Weekend Wanderings

I left John and the girls to amuse themselves this weekend (and a lot of amusing they did!), and headed down south to visit Jen, Geoff and Mae in Dumfries. After cramming my bag full of charity shop bargains, we had a great lunch and then Geoff missed seeing otters frolicking in the river as he diligently headed off to the office Saturday afternoon.
Saturday night I went to a friend's 40th birthday bash in Glasgow, with lots of disco dancing and spent Sunday chilling, churching and metropoling with our most stylish urban friends, Neil and Anita. I know in this photo it looks like they are not enjoying my company but I'm sure it's the camera in their face that's putting them off .
Thanks everyone for a fab weekend!

Il est ou le big one?

That's the kind of very cute things that Mahalia says. She also calls her mom, "Mama Bessanne" all the time. I could just dip that girl in chocolate and gobble her up, she is so sweet.
All our girls had a great week with her, and with Bethanne. Here we are at the beach, and it was not nearly as grey as the photo makes it look. It wasn't sunny, mind you, but it wasn't depressing. Sorry about my mediocre photographs. They do get brighter and more colourful below.
But that's because of how well dressed these ladies are, and how well they coordinate with the playground equipment.

Otherwise, although the Coutty Cuties have abandoned us, the warm sunshine has come to visit instead. We have spent the morning outside in the back garden, not even wearing a coat, clearing old leaves, playing fairies, drinking coffee and chatting to friends who came to visit, while waiting for various workmen to come and fix things in the house.
WORKMEN: You know how you get an appointment, for the whole day, like they'll show up anytime between 8am and 6pm? Well today, by 11:15 am, I had the boiler serviced, the dripping pipes repaired and the Tesco delivery put away in the cupboards. That's 3 different people!Thank you, all you men who drive around in vans, bringing stuff and fixing stuff.
