One from the Summer

This was at the start of July when Jennifer and Mae came for a weekend that finished with fish and chips at the beach.

Yesterday felt a bit like a summer day because the weather was glorious and we went to the swimming pool, for a walk at the beach, lunch at the Lemon Tree, a drive to the country, an attempt to climb a hill called Clach-na-ben, and fish and chips in the park in Banchory. Really nice.

Some More Room

And here is the little girls room. They inherited the bunkbeds, and we did two walls cream, two walls chocolate. Then I went berserk with painting the furniture. Maybe I'd describe it as a colourful, gypsy caravan look.

Some Room

When you've got these curtains and this painted woodwork,

and this carpet...

You just have to work with them in the decorating scheme. No amount of pink or flowers is going to detract. So we went regal. OTT regal.

Thanks to Mom and Dad for helping with the painting and canopies. What's great about this room is that it is the opposite of Dolly's great quote that, "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap". Lots of cheap and cheerful touches, painting second hand furniture, bedding on sale but even then bought with some vouchers, cushions made with scraps, but cheapest of all was Oma's find of fancy upholstery tassles on sale for one penny each. She bought six. Six pence. When the sales assistant asked her if she wanted a bag she said, "Do I have to pay for it?". Cheapest customer ever.

Party Piece
I was at this swinging joint tonight listening to some Jazz and these trendy cats. My brother David's in town - I hope everyone has prepared their party piece?

Only One Day Left

Oma and Opa leave tomorrow, and I think we have given them rotten stinking colds as souvenirs. sigh.
But here are some of the things we got up to with them.

Why is Oma in none of these pictures!?
